Context of Research Project within a Subject of Human Capital

After the 2008 financial and economic crisis, being subject to the negative impacts of climate change developed and many developing countries have revised their development plans in favor of green growth. Various countries around the world are implementing measures to strengthen economic growth while ensuring the sustainability of natural assets that provide the necessary resources and ecosystem services to ensure the well-being of populations. Green growth and sustainability are necessary to sustain and advance human capital.

The research project Foresight of New Energy Technologies and Assessment of Their Effects for Human Health and Quality of Life involves foresighting the technological and economic characteristics of sustainable energy technologies, as well as policy measures in this area that are an integral part of modern energy security

Project Aim

Identifying new energy technologies based on the use of various types of energy resources, as well approaches to assessing their effects for human health and quality of life

Project Objectives:

  1. Studying the limiting factors of territorial resilience in Russia, including the availability of natural resources (climatic, water, environmental), developing comprehensive resilience indices taking into account natural and socio-economic indicators, adapting and enhancing the guiding principles of territorial resilience
  2. Analyzing cross-sectoral effects of the water, energy and agricultural resources consumption (water-food-energy nexus) that contribute to increasing human capital, development of recommendations for bringing the public policy measures in line with the best international practice in affordable, clean and reliable energy resources supply
  3. Assessing the human capital of territories taking into account the influence of proximity factors (agglomeration economy effects), remoteness, various combinations of geographical and sectoral (structural) effects and conducting a comparative analysis of human capital in different geographical conditions
  4. Adapting socio-economic indicators that reflect the achievement of the 7th UN Sustainable Development Goal in Russia
