Context of Research Project within a Subject of Human Capital

Health is an important component of human capital. In turn, mental health contributes to physical health and mortality rates, and mental well-being is an important prerequisite for employee productivity and, as a result, economic growth. Affective disorders can deplete the biological resources of the body, disrupt the functioning of its systems and thereby contribute to the occurrence of diseases and increase the risk of death.

The scientific project "Socio-economic disadvantage, uncertainty and mental health of the population" focuses on a comprehensive analysis of mental health and its relationship with indicators of the socio-economic situation of the population of the Russian Federation.

Project Aim

Analysis of the impact of the socio-economic situation and socio-economic instability on the mental health of the Russian population.

Project Objectives:

  1. Assessment of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and analysis of the contribution of social inequality to the mental health of the Russian population aged 50 years and older.
  2. Assessment of the degree of stigmatization of mental health problems in various social groups of the population
  3. Assessment of the prevalence of depression among the older population and analysis of risk factors for its occurrence, analysis of strategies used by representatives of various groups of the Russian population to maintain mental health
  4. Analysis of the impact of income and employment instability on the mental health of the Russian population
