Proliferation of New Employment Models
For reference: This series of trendsetters continues the practice of publishing reviews of global technological trends since 2014 and presents a unique database of global trends and challenges in the field of human development. This research of the HSE ISSEK is based on the results of iFORA Big Data System, the Delphi survey (with the participation of more than 400 leading foreign and Russian scientists), expert sessions and interviews.
The development of digital technology has made it possible to move some aspects of employment relationships to the digital space, leading to a transformation of the labour market and the emergence of non-traditional forms of work (part-time, remote, freelance, platform, outsourcing, sharing, etc.).
The use of non-traditional forms of employment, on the one hand, can lead to positive socio-economic changes, such as the inclusion of new workers into the labor market. However, on the other hand, it can also be associated with destabilization and new risks, particularly for workers. In times of economic crisis, people are more vulnerable to losing their jobs and social security.
